Fertilize in the Spring
Springtime is right around the corner and that means it’s
time to put that fertilizer down on your lawn as well as the trees
and shrubs. Eventually, and I know it is hard to believe but the
April showers will come and along with it come those pesky weeds.
It’s a good time to use a weed and feed fertilizer before
it gets to hot.
Remember not to get the weed and feed fertilizer in the beds
that are planted with annuals the weed killer does not know the
difference
between weeds and annuals. You don’t have to worry about
hedge type plants (woody ornamental plants) or trees as they are
not affected buy it.
I usually suggest fertilizing the trees and shrubs twice a year
and the lawn at least three times. Fertilize the lawn, in March,
June and October, and the trees and shrubs in March and October.
Properly maintained and healthy lawns, trees and shrubs tend
to do better and are less susceptible to pests, and stress from
drought
and heat. Just as in life, it seems the survival of the fittest
rule applies.
So don’t forget to fertilize and get ready for the miracle
of spring!
